Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know what type of care I need?

We know that navigating the care system can be difficult at times. It’s not always easy to know where to start or what type of care might be best for your needs. You really are in safe hands with the Blackstone Care team. We’re experts in care and we are with you every step of the way. We will tailor a care package to your needs, caring for you wherever and whenever you need. From care in your own home through to residential, nursing, dementia, and palliative care. Please get in touch and we can talk you through the options and help you decide what’s best for you.

What types of care do you provide?

At Blackstone Care we can care for you in your home, we’ll come and visit as often as you need, or provide live-in care if you require additional support. We can also offer residential, nursing and dementia care if needed. We can care for complex needs and support you with palliative care too.

What are the benefits of Care in your own home?

We at Blackstone Care understand the importance of staying in your own home – being in your own home, surrounded by your personal belongings and your memories means a great deal. We can help with a range of services for you to stay with comfort and confidence in your own home, perhaps when things are being a little tricky or relatives are worrying about you. Our help means you can keep your independence and our carers can even assist you on tasks and outings that will help you gain even more independence. At Blackstone Care we don’t offer a ‘one-size-fits-all’ Care package, we know that every person is unique and so we tailor our care package to the individual and their circumstances always.

Is there any funding available to assist with my care costs?

During our initial chat, we will talk through your options to link in with your local authorities for a financial needs assessment. We are here to support you step by step through that initial referral process and have lots of experience in helping people with this. Nothing is too much trouble. It can be a daunting experience so we’re with you every step of the way.

How can I trust my carer?

Our priority is to ensure that you feel happy and safe in your home. We understand that sharing your space with someone new may be daunting and we know how important it is that feel at ease with your carer. We are particularly careful in selecting the right carer for each Service User, whether that be similar interests, shared passion, or cultural needs. However, we ensure that all Blackstone carers are empathetic, trustworthy people with kind, friendly natures, who have a strong desire to build caring relationships with their clients. All Blackstone Care staff have vetting checks to pass before employment for eg, (enhanced) DBS certificates, and extensive references plus a full employment background check with gaps in employment checked.

How do I arrange a care service with Blackstone Care?

Contact Blackstone Care and make an appointment for us to visit you for a chat about how Blackstone Care can help you.  We are more than happy to come visit you at home to discuss the ways in which we can help and then once you have decided you can simply sit back and relax while we take care of everything.

Will I get the same care worker every day?

At Blackstone Care, we believe that the best care is relationship-led and will ensure that you have a small group of Care Professionals who have been introduced to you. This ensures that you will have consistency and continuity in their care being provided by a dedicated team of familiar Care workers.

How do you use technology in my care package?

Whilst the service user sees a dedicated person to person service, we use a digital care secure platform, to schedule your visits and allocate them to your familiar Care worker teams.  Transparent Electronic Care Planning is available for your family through a dedicated app to ensure that care is being delivered in accordance with the care plan. Your medication records are also available digitally where required which enables us to manage your medication safely and effectively.

How many hours would I need?

At Blackstone Care, we work with you and your representatives to create a bespoke Care plan that best works for you and your needs.  We do understand that plans change so nothing is written in stone and can always be changed.

What do I do in an Emergency?

At Blackstone, we will always be there to assist you. Our offices are open weekdays from 08.30 to 17.30. Outside of these times and on weekends, we have an on-call system where you can call us at any time in case of an emergency.

What are the costs of your services?

Our services are typically billed on an hourly basis. We provide a minimum visit length of 30 minutes. To discuss the exact rates for our services, please contact your local office. We’ll set up a no-obligation consultation to begin discussing your Personal Care Plan and the rates for each service on your plan can be discussed then. We always provide a written contract, outlining our services and all our charges before initiating services. We also work with local social services who may use direct payment methods or a personalised budget. Please call our office and we will gladly assist you with your funding options.

How do Savings affect Care funding Charges?

A person with savings over £23,250 will not receive any financial help for their care. For a person with savings between £14,250 and £23,250, £1 income for every £250 between these amounts is assumed. Mortgage, rent, savings and expenses due to disability are all taken into consideration and the amount left is their ‘available income’. The person can then be asked to contribute 65% of this towards the cost of their care.
